About Emily Aust

Emily Aust is currently an MFA candidate in Dance Theatre at the University of California San Diego. Her artistry is inspired by interdisciplinary collaboration, somatic ideologies, contact improvisation, teaching, theatricality and sensation based theories inside of physical technique.

She is a founding member of the collaborative dance and music ensemble Odd and Even. Odd and Even has performed throughout San Diego county and surrounding areas as well as internationally in Mexico. In 2012 as part of an initiative to offer a public space for experimental performance practice, Odd and Even facilitated monthly improvisation workshops at Space 4 Art in San Diegoís East Village. In 2010 Emily received the Belkin Research scholarship for the project Correlations: Media and Dance. This project questioned the boundaries between mass media and itís influences on cultural dance forms in San Diego County. In 2011 she received the Stewart Prize in choreography for the dance theatre work Three Minutes Later, a composition exploring performance relationships between written script and a physical choreography.

In her work Emily seeks opportunities for artistic community
