About William Given

 

William Given is a photographer, writer, and instructor. He is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Theatre & Dance at UC San Diego. His research focuses on how individuals created hyperreal performative identities utilizing the new mediums of photography and film during the belle époque in Paris. Will teaches writing at UC San Diego and has designed the courses Not Just Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem: Identity in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock; Photography and the Cult of Celebrity; Performing Sexuality: Censorship and Power in Pop Culture; and Virgins, Vamps, and Flappers: Women in Film in the 1920s.
