Final Evaluation Paper Guidelines

The purpose of the course evaluation paper is to provide you, the student, with the opportunity to document your experience and lessons learned in the course. However, it also serves as vital feedback for the continuous improvement of the practicum courses. At the start of the quarter each student will have different expectations of the course and although many students will be working on similar projects, the value of the courses and lessons learned will vary for each student. The paper provides an opportunity for the students to reflect on how their perspectives changed.

Remember that there are three components to the course; Lecture, Lab, and Crew. Be sure to comment on all three to some extent.

You might begin by outlining any expectations you had of what you were going to learn, or what the run crew experience was going to be like. Were your expectations met? Were there any surprises? What did you come to appreciate while working with as a part of the crew? How was it different from other experiences you may have had working on smaller shows or shows produced elsewhere?

What did you do in your labs? What did you learn about the role of carpenters, painters, stitchers, electricians, and other artisans? Does working in the show appeal to you?
Did you find that weekly lecture sessions informative? Were they useful in understanding how theatre productions work? Did you fine that you could apply that you learned?
These questions are not intended as a laundry list of points to address in your paper. They are simply intended as triggers for your writing.

Please keep in mind while writing your paper that you will not be graded by the content, but rather by quality and quantity. You must have 3 FULL typed pages. Double spaced, size 12 font with 1" margins.

PAPER DUE Tuesday Lecture WEEK 10
