Biography

Dina Apple is a performer, improviser, and dance maker who enjoys collaborating with people of various expertise to create new performative works of art and to consider harmonious ways of living. With every interaction, she learns more about herself, humans, and the world with which we are entangled.

She has performed and created dances throughout the United State, Europe, and Mexico with Leslie Seiters/little known dance theater, collaborative dance theater LIVE, somebodies dance theatre, Wallpaper Performance Co., Lux Boreal Danza Contemporanea, Funkanometry SD, Garage Contemporary Ballet, and SDSU’s University Dance Company, as well as in works by Eric Geiger, Kyle Sorensen, and Karen Schaffman among others. Her choreography for theatre credits include Hamlet (UCSD), and Dance of the Holy Ghosts (Ubuntu Theater Project).

Dina’s interest in cross-disciplinary collaboration has led her to co-found the ensembles Odd & Even, In Time & Space Projects, and The Third Thing where she has delved into creative inquiry and art-making with musicians, playwrights, filmmakers, designers, and actors. Her current interests include the questions and practices of social choreography, the hidden potent value of stranger-ness, and dance as responsive and instigative humanity.
