Biography

Tezeru Teshome is a third-year PhD student. She earned her BS in History and Theatre Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a playwright, performer, scholar and youth advocate. She has worked as an educator, teaching artist, and juvenile justice organizer in Chicago for several years. Other than her commitment to youth justice, Tezeru’s research will explore how U.S. immigration and acculturation impacts mother-daughter relationships of immigrant families.
