Mandell Weiss Center for the Performing ArtsUCSD's theatre and dance facilities are among the best in the country. We share our home, The Mandell Weiss Center for the Performing Arts, with the La Jolla Playhouse. In addition to the large theatre spaces at the Mandell Weiss Center, the department boasts two brand-new smaller performance venues: GH157 and Dance Studio 3. GH157 is housed in the recently renovated Galbraith Hall, the home to the Department of Theatre & Dance. The beautifully redone building houses all our classes, faculty & grad student offices, a computer lab, design studios, and a lighting lab along with our a new studio theatrefour floors of theatre training. You can find Dance Studio 3 in our new Molli and Arthur Wagner Dance Building, an architectural treasure with three studio spaces for movement and dance with sprung floors, natural lighting, and spacious shower/locker rooms. The department has recently worked with the La Jolla Playhouse to build a new black box theatre, the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre, with shop facilities and offices, that are shared by both organizations.
