Small Prophecies

A first kiss. A prank turned ugly. A moment of truth between father and son. How does a boy become a man? How do you stop your child from becoming something terrifying? A story about the myths we tell ourselves and how they shape the people we become.

David Myers' work has been read and developed at The Public Theater, The Old Vic, Labyrinth Theater Company, The Royal Court, The Lark Play Development Center, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, The Management Co. and Paper Beats Rock. His play 1800 Acres was produced at Riverside Studios in London, after having been developed with The Old Vic through their US/UK Exchange Program. Prior to that, his plays Shatterings, A String of Breath, and No Man’s Land, Greenland, were produced in Houston, Texas: at Theatre Collide, Infernal Bridegroom’s Axiom Theatre, and the Downtown EZ Credit Theater respectively.

Myers has studied with writers Edward Albee, Nilo Cruz, Ntozake Shange and David Eldridge. He has done theater for development work in rural Rwanda, worked as the Literary Associate at the Public Theater and as the National Coordinator for Suzan-Lori Parks’ 365 Days / 365 Plays Festival. He currently has a screenplay in development with Tashtego Films in New York. He is a graduate of Brown University.
