Ruva Chigwedere

Biography

Ruva Chigwedere (she/her) is a second-year MFA actor from New Jersey by way of Marondera, Zimbabwe. Ruva loves performing in work that centers the feminine perspective and honors the complexity and depth of Black women’s emotional universes. As a playwright, Ruva enjoys exploring themes of love, power, and spirituality.  UC San Diego Credits: Orlando. Selected Credits: Richard III (The Flea Theater), The Emperor’s New Clothes (American Repertory Theater), Sweeney Todd (Lowell House Opera), and God of Carnage (Harvard College). Ruva received a B. A. in Theater, Dance and Media and History and Literature from Harvard College, where she graduated with Highest Honors and was awarded the Jonathan Levy Award for the Most Promising Undergraduate Actor. Ruva has also studied at Atlantic Acting School, The London Academy of Dramatic Arts, and the AST National Academy of Theater Arts in Kraków.
